Aspire Home Healthcare FREE Honeywell HomMed Telemonitoring Service
Daily monitoring of your patient's weight, oxygen and blood pressure is available to your Aspire and Aspire Home Healthcare patients at no extra charge 365 days a year.
Aspire Home Healthcare is proud to provide extra-special care of your patients through the Honeywell HomMed Genesis Remote Patient Care Monitor system. Winner of the 2008 Medical Design Excellence Award, Honeywell has been a leader in home health monitoring. Aspire is dedicated to providing the best preventive and proactive care for its patients, whether at home or in an assisted living facility.
Although each HomMed system costs Aspire several thousand dollars, and the cost of the machine is not reimbursable by Medicare or private insurance, Aspire has committed itself to make the investment and provide both machine and telemonitoring service at no charge to its Medicare and private duty patients to help prevent repeat emergency room visits and hospital stays.
The HomMed system speaks 12 languages, slowly guiding your patients through the biometric and symptom evaluation process, alternately directing them to stand on the scale, sit down and place the blood pressure cuff around their arm and the O2 monitor on their finger. The system audibly reminds a patient four times a day, or as pre-programmed according to a physician's instructions, when to measure vital signs and take medication. Aspire monitors each patient's data and alerts the patient's physician if there is a significant change in vital signs from one reading to the next.
Our patients have benefitted greatly from the installation of the HomMed system in their homes. Telemonitoring of one patient's higher than usual blood pressure led to a change order to increase their medication, resulting in a return of their blood pressure to safe levels without hospitalization. Another patient's weight increase, measured from one day to the next, suggested the need for an increase in diuretic. Aspire contacted the patient's cardiologist, who changed her medication immediately, keeping the patient out of the hospital.
When a patient answered "Yes" to the HomMed's chest pain question for the first time, Aspire contacted the patient and got her into her physician's office that same day. When another patient's testing showed a decrease in oxygen levels, Aspire contacted the patient and found that the patient was out of oxygen. The tank was refilled, and the patient's oxygen level was retested and had returned to normal.
Our telehealth service has been so popular with some patients they have chosen to purchase the machine when Aspire's home health services are complete.
