December 08, 2002
It is that time of year again
It seems like just yesterday I took down the Christmas tree and secured all the decorations. Time passes very fast. It passes faster for a company when it is
growing and getting newer, broader and more innovative in providing the highest quality of patient care.
2002 was a great year for Nightingale companies. We not only grew in patient
Census (it doubled that of 2001) but also in employee census (it more than doubled that of 2002) The office staff added a brand new director
Of nursing- Rebecca Evans RN. We are very proud to have her.
Nightingale Home Healthcare took a leap into the future by acquiring HBOC
McKesson as its patient care software. We became the only privately owned
free standing company to have this software in the Indianapolis area. This has
enhanced the way we provide patient care with easier access to information for
the field staff with 5 skilled health professionals taking laptops to provide patient care and the office staff being offered more and more ways to track patient care, payroll
and billing.
Then in July we took another step towards enhancing the way homecare is
provided. Nightingale Homecare, Inc. signed an exclusive contract for the
entire central Indiana region by providing daily home-monitoring to it's
patients. Generally a nurse sees a patient two to three times a week.
With home monitoring we can track daily vitals of the patient such as-
heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, weight and if needed glucose
levels in the blood, spirometery, PT/INR and even a strip of electro cardio-
gram just by putting two thumbs on the monitor. The patient does not have
to leave their home. All the information is relayed to a computer in the
office where a nurse checks them. The patient's doctor can be contacted if necessary keeping him/her of the current patient status. This has revolutionized the way we provide
home care and makes us the leader in our field. The local television and
newspapers covered this pretty well.
Starting in December, Nightingale Home Healthcare launched it's first billboard
On 86th and Ditch in Indianapolis. This makes us the only home health agency to
have it's own billboard in Indianapolis.
Starting December 2, 2002 we are proud to open a new office in the Chicago land
area, Burr Ridge (a suburb of Chicago) to be exact. Debbie Griffin RN will
be heading that office. She comes with a 22 year background in homecare.
We are very proud to have her.
At this time of the year we listen to carols and a lot of Christmas music. One
Song that comes to mind is " I wish everyday could be like Christmas". Why
does it have to be Christmas to be helpful and caring? We at
Nightingale work hard to make everyday a Christmas day for our clients. We all
should do that even when we are not working. A religious day or festival should
not decide when we have to be kind and benevolent. I wish every day for
everyone is filled with joy, happiness, peace and tranquility. I wish all our clients
a happy recovery and if you are not already feeling better, get well soon. I
want to wish you a Happy Holiday as well. To all my co-workers and everyone
associated with us, may you bring Christmas to our clients daily and thank you.
Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to everyone. We want to bring joy in more and more people's life.
