National Influenza Vaccination Week
Christmas is the time of the year that our home care patients begin
having lots of family and friends visiting . They come bearing gifts,
food and fellowship. They also could come unknowingly bringing the
influenza virus.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced the
designation of the week of *November 27 to December 3 as the 2006
National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW). The purpose of NIVW is to
emphasize the importance of influenza vaccination and the need to
continue vaccination activities beyond Thanksgiving and into December
and January.
Their message is to get immunized between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
This is also a great time to assess their pneumonia immunization
status!
